The COVID-19 (coronavirus) outbreak most likely has increased your stress and anxiety levels. There is uncertainty about how the outbreak will effect our health, social engagement and employment. These stressors can manifest as physical pain in the head and neck region of your body. I have found myself having headaches and jaw pain due to increased stress levels. I want to share information and strategies in managing jaw and facial pain.
Coping with the Stress of COVID-19
Keep a routine pattern of sleep: go to bed and wake up at similar times daily
Get outside with a mask and take in the fresh air, walking is great for the mind and body
Become informed about your physical symptoms, and strategies to manage them. ie: please watch the slide show below
Remain Hopeful
- Try to keep things in perspective for the long-term.
- Be kind and patient with yourself.
- Celebrate successes, find things to be grateful about, and take satisfaction in completing tasks, even small ones.
- Give yourself small breaks from the stress of the situation by doing something you enjoy.
- Draw upon your spirituality, those who inspire you, or your personal beliefs and values.
